How to plan your race pace
Your average pace is simply your target finish time divided by the distance. For a sub-2-hour half marathon (21.1 km in 2:00:00), that's about 5:41 /km. The split table shows the cumulative time you should hit each kilometre at if you run an even pace — the most reliable way to race well.
Even vs. negative splits
Holding the same pace throughout is an even split. Many runners aim for a slight negative split (second half a touch faster), so treat the table as your ceiling for the first half.
